I went back to look for the night hawk again, but no luck. I did see a variety of other birds in the short time I was there including sandhill cranes, crows, blue-gray gnatcatcher, great blue heron, cardinal, and wood duck, as well as a bullfrog, gopher tortoise, and marsh rabbit. Flowers photographed are magnolia and tarflower.
My favorite part though was discovering that I could walk right up to the lake. I was surrounded by old cypress trees and the sun was coming through making the lake and grass a beautiful color.
