Reptiles and more at Gatorland - April 10, 2014

This water moccasin was actually found in the natural cypress swamp part of the park.  That seems like it could be potentially dangerous!  Glad they still have a small place to go in what is left of the old swamp.  Speaking of dangerous, check out the little girl in the photo below...

More Baby Birds at Gatorland - April 10, 2014

I was glad to see several tricolored heron nests.  I couldn't believe there were 4 eggs!



Next is the snowy egret:

A couple of anhinga nests out across the water:

...and finally the cormorants.  I had never seen a nest before!

Baby Great Egrets at Gatorland - April 10, 2014

Returned here today to check on the baby birds.  The baby egrets from a month ago had fledged, but there were many new babies around.  First come the great egrets, which were the most numerous.
