Raccoon at Ft DeSoto - April 5, 2014

I had seen this baby raccoon once before, but today he was just staying out in the open and didn't care who walked up to him to take a picture.  There were a couple other people who stayed a long time.  I think they were from Switzerland and very excited to see a raccoon.  A lady came by and suggested they would have luck looking for them on the side of the highway.  I am not sure why people don't pay more attention to these creatures.  They get a bad reputation, but are very clever and so adorable.  This youngster was ready to run up a tree every time he got spooked by something rustling in the leaves.  I think young ones stay in trees for shelter.
