Busch Gardens - May 15, 2014

Had some extra time at the end of the day, so I decided to stop at Busch with my good camera again.  I found a different area, a dark cave for nocturnal animals, and some new interesting animals.  My favorite by far was the echidna.  Many people think the platypus is the only egg-laying mammal, but there is one other: echidna, an australian ancient mammal.  It is amazing to me the reproductive evolutionary history from egg-laying reptiles, to egg-laying mammals, to marsupials, to the live birth mammals we are most familiar with today.  Where else can you see one of these?  I don't think I have ever seen a platypus at a zoo either.

...will be back to look for hatchlings soon!
