This was one of the most amazing birding spots ever! I could not believe how thousands of birds flew past at sunset to roost in the trees. I saw more of each species than I have ever seen before--by far!

Tybee Marine Sanctuary - September 7, 2015
My favorite thing about this sanctuary was this one diamondback terrapin turtle that was super photogenic.
Bonaventure Cemetery - September 7, 2015
This place was really pretty and huge. I could definitely go back again. Many of the graves are so old, and there is a lot of history. There was a red fox there sitting by a grave that reads, "blessed are the pure of heart, for they shall see god." Seems like something from a movie. Unfortunately left my long lens in the trunk and so only got far shots of the fox.
Fort Jackson, Savannah - September 7, 2015
Another great fort to visit. We met a very informative guide (and his unlikely friend) and took advantage of the photo op!
Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, Savannah - September 7, 2015
Returned to Savannah today to do some more in the city. First stop (as it started to rain) was this beautiful old church from the turn of the century.
Oatland Wildlife Center, Savannah - September 6, 2015
Still in the mood to visit nature centers today. This one was pretty expansive with many animals and a nice nature walk through the woods.
Savannah, GA - September 6, 2015
Went to Savannah for the first time ever today. Everyone always says what a nice city this is, and I was glad to see it. Here are some snapshots from the trolley tour around town.
Fort Frederica, St. Simons Island, GA - September 5, 2015
Went to the fort at St. Simons Island and it was pretty interesting! Definitely worth the trip and the walk around the grounds. Also enjoyed seeing (and photographing) wildlife on the property: deer, green anole, broad-headed skink, snail, praying mantis and a variety of bird species.
Morning at Driftwood Beach - September 5, 2015
Another beautiful morning on driftwood beach! My wide-angle lens was having some issues with fogging up, but I still managed to get a few shots.
St Andrews Park, Jeckyll Island - September 4, 2015
Saw the sunset and several birds at this park. One thing that was really cool, but I couldn't figure out what it was is this squid-like creature just at the edge of the tide.
Georgia Sea Turtle Center - September 4, 2015
This place was great. The person in charge of the show was so interesting and knowledgeable. Aside from the sea turtles, they also had terrapins and gopher tortoises.
